JACKSON, Miss. -- Kevin Streelman wasnt the only one who took advantage of nearly ideal conditions at Jackson County Club. The 37-year-old did it a little better than everyone else, though, finishing with a 9-under 63 for a two-shot lead after the first round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.Streelman made 10 birdies Thursday, including eight in an 11-hole stretch. With more good weather forecast for the next three days, he said the low scores will have to keep coming if he wants to have a shot at winning the tournament. When you get PGA Tour players on great greens with great conditions and theres a fair amount of wedges in our hands on this golf course -- theyre going to make some birdies, Streelman said.Trey Mullinax, Seamus Power and Carl Pettersson all shot 65 to sit two shots behind Streelman. Seven others -- including Lucas Glover and Camilo Villegas -- were among those three shots back.Defending champion Peter Malnati shot a 71. Of the 132 players, 100 shot even par or better.Streelman is a two-time PGA Tour winner, with his last victory in 2014 at the Travelers Championship. He missed the cut two weeks ago in the season-opening Safeway Open.Streelman said he wasnt planning on playing at Sanderson Farms until his poor performance in California. Its been a good decision so far: The 9-under 63 is his career-low score in relation to par. He shot an 8-under 62 at the Travelers in 2008.It was pretty flawless ball-striking to be honest, Streelman said. Hit a lot of fairways.Mullinax -- a rookie making his fifth career PGA Tour start -- was among the others who took advantage of the forgiving course to post a low score. The 24-year-old finished tied for 22nd at the Safeway Open two weeks ago and continued to play well in Jackson. The goal this week was to give myself the best chance to win, and today was a good start, Mullinax said. We have three days left. The 29-year-old Power is making just his second start on the PGA Tour. He finished 15th at the Olympics while playing for Ireland over the summer and said the experience helped give him confidence. The biggest thing to remember is Im not going to win the tournament at 7 under, Power said. Im going to have to get to 20-under, so thats the overall goal you have to get to and then see what happens from there.-----Follow David Brandt on Twitter: www.twitter.com/davidbrandtAPCheap NFL Jerseys China . COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nebraskas postseason dreams were dealt a savage blow by Ohio State. Now the Cornhuskers may have to carry on without their star quarterback.Tommy Armstrong Jr. was taken to a hospital after he slammed his head on the turf while being tackled in Nebraskas 62-3 rout by the No. 6 Buckeyes . He returned to the sidelines in street clothes later in Saturday nights game, but coach Mike Riley said his status for next weekends game against Minnesota is unclear.Coming into the game, No. 9 Nebraska (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten, No. 10 CFP) still controlled its own destiny in the Big Ten West and lurked on the periphery of the national playoff picture. The blowout at the hands of the Buckeyes (8-1, 5-1, No. 6 CFP) will drop the Huskers in the polls and they will need help to win the division after their worst loss since 2004.That came out of the blue to me, said Riley, who is in his second season rebuilding the Huskers.Damon Webb intercepted Armstrong on Nebraskas third play and ran it back for a touchdown. The Buckeyes never looked back, rolling up 590 yards of offense.Bad football on our part, Cornhuskers safety Nate Gerry said. Especially early on we gave a really good football team some opportunities.Besides winning out, Nebraska will need Wisconsin to lose again to win the Big Ten west.Well, I think our first goal is to win next week, but I think the rest of it is still a possibility out there, Riley said.dddddddddddd Now we dont control our own destiny anymore, but that doesnt mean we cant win our division. To have a shot at that, the Huskers will likely need Armstrong, who was knocked out during the second quarter after his head bounced off the turf while being tackled by Ohio State safety Malik Hooker. He was strapped to a backboard and loaded into tan ambulance. He gave a thumbs-up to the Ohio Stadium crowd that chanted, Tommy, Tommy. In the third quarter, he came jogging out of the tunnel in a track suit and was greeted on the Nebraska sideline with hugs and handshakes from his teammates.Armstrong, a senior, was 4 for 15 for 74 yards when he left the game. Backup quarterback Ryker Fyfe took over Armstrong and went 5 for 18 for 52 yards and an interception.Fyfe, a senior, started a game against Purdue last season when Armstrong was injured and completed 29-of-48 passes for 407 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-45 loss. The 407 passing yards rank as the fifth-highest single-game total in Nebraska history.---More AP college football at www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25 .---Follow Mitch Stacy at http://twitter.com/mitchstacy ' ' '
