KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Baltimore Orioles got production from throughout their lineup, while Scott Feldman shut down the Kansas City Royals offence. Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy each drove in three runs and the Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-2 on Monday night to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games. Davis, who leads the majors with 97 RBIs, drove in a pair of runs with a sixth-inning double and another with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. "I think its huge anytime you swing the bats well at the beginning of the game," Davis said. "It puts some pressure on the opposing pitcher and gives you more opportunities. "The way were swinging the bats we know that if one guy doesnt do it, the next will do it. Were getting on base, running the bases well and were taking advantage of every opportunity." Hardy homered, his 17th of the season, in the four-run sixth with Davis aboard. He picked up another RBI in the third when Davis scored on his ground out. "Getting a lot of base runners and getting some timely hits, its a good combination," Hardy said. "We had a lot of opportunities to score more, too. We got a lot of guys on-base early, with hits and walks, Nate (McLouth) leading it off sets the tone. And hes stolen 25 bases, too. That puts pressure on the pitcher to be quicker to the plate which helps the hitters and it puts pressure on the defence." The Orioles 18-hit attack matched their season high and included seven players with multi-hit games, including three each by rookie Henry Urrutia, Nick Markakis and Hardy. McLouth reached base five times -- two hits and three walks. "Henry (Urrutia) had some great at-bats," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "J.J. had the homer. Nate was on base all night. Chris settled back in pretty good. It was good offence all night." Feldman (2-1), who was acquired in a July 2 trade from the Chicago Cubs, was the beneficiary of the offence, picking up the victory. "Its a great way to open the second half, clicking on all cylinders," Feldman said. "The offence has been great. The defence has gotten the job done and now the pitching is getting it going." Feldman limited the Royals to five singles and two runs over eight innings. "I was just throwing strikes," Feldman said. "I kind of got away from it in the fourth inning and walked some guys, then we got back to it, and let the defence do the work behind me." Royals manager Ned Yost summed up the defeat in four words: "It was a clunker." Wade Davis (4-9) took the loss, giving up four runs, two unearned, in 2 2-3 innings and seven hits and three walks before being replaced by Luis Mendoza. Davis has lost his past four starts with a 10.91 ERA in that span, giving up 21 runs and 24 hits and 12 walks. Davis has only one win in his past 11 starts. "Im just inconsistent," Davis said. "Ive got to get deep in games. I fell behind in the count too much, a leadoff walk." Rookie David Lough drove in one Kansas City run and scored the other. His single in the fourth scored Salvador Perez. Lough scored in the third on Alcides Escobars sacrifice fly. Mike Moustakas committed a fielding error in the first inning, ending the Royals streak at 11 games without an error, which matched a club record. Moustakas error on Manny Machados hopper led to two unearned runs. "I just missed it," Moustakas said. "No excuses for it. Its routine as it gets. Its a 5-4-3 double play and I just didnt make the play. Thats an additional 20 pitches for Wade. Its going to sting for a while." Notes: RHP Felipe Paulino, who had Tommy John surgery last July and remains on the 60-day disabled list, threw 25 pitches to hitters without shoulder soreness that had plagued him recently. ... The Royals acquired OF Gorkys Hernandez from the Marlins in a minor league trade. Hernandez hit .192 in 70 games last season with Pittsburgh and Miami. Hernandez, who hit .275 in 90 games this season with Triple-A New Orleans, was assigned to the Royals Omaha club in the Pacific Coast League. ... And I wanted to come out here and do what I know what I could have done (in Rio).Even sweeter for Harrison was finishing ahead of compatriots Brianna Rollins and Kristi Castlin, who both qualified for the Olympics ahead of her.You have one bad day but I knew I still had it in me, Harrison said, referring to her sixth-place finish at the U.S. trials earlier this month. I was coming out here with just vengeance to show these girls what I have.Bolt rarely has anything to prove to anyone. But the six-time Olympian champion had to show in London that he hasnt been slowed by the hamstring injury that led to him withdrawing from his countrys Olympic trials. In his first 200-meter race of the season, the worlds fastest man ran 19.89 seconds at the same Olympic Stadium where four years ago he took golds from the 100, 200 and 4x100-meter relay races.dddddddddddd On Friday, Bolt finished ahead of Alonso Edward of Panama and British runner Adam Gemili, clocking below LaShawn Merritts world-leading time of 19.74.Im not fully in shape. I need more work but over time I will be fine, Bolt said. I could feel the rust. The execution up there wasnt perfect but it was my first run so I cant complain. The only complaints Bolt had were targeted at American rivals who had lightly suggested -- not strongly -- that he got preferential treatment by being allowed to skip the Jamaican trials.I felt it was a joke, the Bolt said. I felt it was a disrespect the fact they think Id back out of a trials. Me, Usain Bolt who has proven myself year (after) year that Im the greatest.I laughed when I heard it. I was disappointed, especially in Justin Gatlin.Elsewhere in London, there was a trio of French winners: Jimmy Vicaut ran a sluggish 100 meters in 10.02 seconds, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse clocked 1 minute, 43.88 seconds in the 800 and Renaud Lavillenie cleared 5.9 meters in the pole vault.Olympic triple jump Christian Taylor prepared for his defense in Rio by reaching 17.78 meters. There were a couple of victories for British women on the fast newly-laid track: Laura Muir in the 1,500 as well as the quartet of Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita in the 4X100-meter relay. The meet continues for a second day on Saturday.
