MOSCOW -- The Russian Olympic Committee is calling for further investigation into allegations of a state-sanctioned doping cover-up, but also suggests the accusations may be baseless. The World Anti-Doping Agency-commissioned investigator Richard McLaren on Monday released a scathing report saying high-level government officials ordered hundreds of test results to be falsified so Russian athletes were not banned for doping. That led WADA to call for all Russian teams to be banned from the Summer Olympics next month in Rio.In a statement Tuesday, the ROC says the accusations are so serious that they require a full investigation with the participation of all affected parties. The ROC added, however, that the participation of clean Russian athletes at the Olympics should not depend on baseless, unproven allegations or the criminal acts of individuals.
