TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie, Pierre LeBrun and Darren Dreger have the latest on the future of Ryan Callahan with the New York Rangers, the Los Angeles Kings search for scoring and whats next with the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Whats the latest on trade talk surrounding New York Rangers captain Ryan Callahan? Dreger: At least one team has requested and was given permission to speak with Stephen Bartlett, who represents Ryan Callahan, to gauge what his contract demands might be. Now, all along its been believed that hes looking for at least seven years and north of $6 million per year. We know the St. Louis Blues have expressed interest. Theres talk of Chris Stewart being involved in some type of a package. Theres a lot of interest and it continues to build. LeBrun: I spoke to three team executives today who said that Glen Sather is doing this because he still wants to sign Callahan. Hes putting pressure on his captain, so there are still some people who dont quite believe that theyre going to go all the way and trade him. I should mention that the Columbus Blue Jackets are another team keeping an eye on the Callahan hunt. Dreger: Unless his contract demands soften, theres a 100 per cent chance that hes getting traded by the New York Rangers. Theyre not paying him what hes asking. Note: According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, Rangers general manager Glen Sather has offered Callahan a five-year extension worth approximately $30 million but sources say the Rangers captain has held firm on looking for a seven-year, $42 million deal. How badly do the Los Angeles Kings need/want scoring? McKenzie: They desperately need scoring and, unfortunately for them, theres nothing front line available right at this moment. Matt Moulson would be a great rental from the Buffalo Sabres, but the price is high - a first-round pick and a prospect - and hes injured until after the Olympic break. Mike Cammalleri is another rental whod be very good. The conventional wisdom is that hell become available, but right now, the Calgary Flames are still talking to him about a contract, so technically, hes not yet available. On Thomas Vanek, the New York Islanders have to decide what theyre going to do, but that will be a last-minute decision right at the deadline. Either theyre all in adding players or selling Thomas Vanek as a rental to cut their losses. But heres another interesting name: Sam Gagner of the Edmonton Oilers. Hes got two years left, not a rental, at a $4.8 million cap hit. It will be tough to make the numbers work on a cap-heavy team like the Los Angeles Kings, but he is a player of interest. Has the Vancouver Canucks recent flurry of injuries changed the way theyre going to approach the deadline and the rest of the year? LeBrun: I can tell you this - they will not be in on the rental market and I think there have been some decisions made in Vancouver over the past week, which is this: Were not good enough to go out and beat a Chicago or St. Louis or some of the powerhouse teams in the West. Were not giving up on the season, but if we make a trade, its for a young player. Its time to retool and reset in Vancouver after all these years of contending. Its all about youth and other than the Sedin twins, I think all bets are off for almost any other player on that roster. Alexander Edler on defence will get a lot of interest probably after the Olympics. Interesting times ahead, in my opinion, in Vancouver. After Fridays trade of Mark Fraser, are there any other deals on the horizon for the Toronto Maple Leafs? Dreger: The Toronto Maple Leafs have informed teams that theyre willing to move Nikolai Kulemin, but this isnt simply getting rid of salary to make some room for the return of Dave Bolland or anything like that. The Leafs need more than a pick. They need a player in return, but no offers yet on the table that make sense. Jeremie Boga Jersey .Y. - Lou Williams scored 21 points and the Toronto Raptors beat New York 81-76 on Monday night in the Knicks preseason home opener. Tiemoue Bakayoko Jersey . -- Barry Bonds is all set to return to the San Francisco Giants. http://www.chelseasoccerjerseysonline.co...chelsea-jersey/. They signed their first kicker. Ottawa inked Nick Setta, a 32-year-old native of Lockport, Illinois, to a contract. Davide Zappacosta Jersey . Tokarski, a somewhat controversial choice -- with his 10 games of NHL experience and all -- to replace an injured Carey Price in Game Two had a night to remember, turning back a Rangers team that was dominating play from the get-go, outshooting the Canadiens 14-4 in the first period and 37-25 overall. Nathan Ake Jersey . According to a release sent by the league, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were the only team to exceed the cap. Their total salary expenditure of $4,417,975 was $17,975 over the salary cap of $4. ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals ended their offensive slump, but the Kansas City Royals found a way to keep the National League champs down. Eric Hosmer hit a tiebreaking single off closer Trevor Rosenthal in the ninth inning and the Royals won 8-7 Tuesday night for their second straight road victory in the four-game, two-city series. "It was a great game back and forth, a lot of clutch hits by both teams," said Alex Gordon, who homered in both games. "It was good to see and hopefully we can build on this." Rookie Kolten Wongs first career home run was a grand slam in the second that ended the Cardinals 20-inning scoreless drought and gave them an early four-run cushion. Wong said it was the first grand slam hes hit at any level. "Its awesome," Wong said. "It was good to get us up early, try and give us a chance." The Cardinals finished a dismal 2-7 home stand when their pitchers faltered and fell to 30-29 overall. Before the game, manager Mike Matheny fielded an endless series of questions about the lack of hitting. Gordons three-run homer capped a six-run fifth for the Royals against Jaime Garcia that put them up by two. "We cant complain about what the offence did," Matheny said. "It just wasnt enough." Kansas City starter James Shields also scuffled, surrendering five earned runs in 5 1-3 innings, and has given up seven homers his last three starts. Shields helped himself with two hits, including an RBI double. "I was just kind of all over the place, really wasnt commanding my slider at all," Shields said. "I made three crucial bad pitches and thats what caused six runs." Peter Bourjos 422-foot homer put the Cardinals ahead 7-6 in the sixth. Alcides Escobars bloop RBI single off Pat Neshek tied it in the eighth, a rally fueled by pinch hitter Billy Butlers infield hit. Omar Infante doubled off Rosenthal (0-3) with one out in the ninth ahead of Hosmers hit. Wade Davis (5-1) allowed a hit in the eighth and Greg Holland worked the ninth for his 16th save in 17 chances for the Royals, the home team for the last two gamess of intrastate interleague series that resumes Wednesday.dddddddddddd "That was one of those grinder games, where youre grinding right from the get-go -- everybody," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "It was a great game." Jhonny Peralta added two doubles and an RBI for St. Louis, outscored 14-0 the previous two games by the Royals and Giants. Wong was chosen as the NL rookie of the month earlier Tuesday and his slam in the second was the Cardinals fifth hit in 10 at-bats against Shields. St. Louis loaded the bases in the first, too, but Yadier Molina grounded into an inning-ending double play on good glovework by Escobar at shortstop and capped by Infantes barehanded grab on the move at second and relay. The Royals had one runner in scoring position the first four innings, then batted around and hit for the cycle in the sixth to take the lead. Gordon homered for the second straight day, Escobar had an RBI triple and Shields had an RBI double with his second straight hit. No St. Louis relievers warmed up during the rally and Matheny said after the game a couple of pitchers had been unavailable. "Im on the mound, Im trying to execute pitches until the manager takes the ball out of my hand," Garcia said. "Im not looking anywhere else." NOTES: Cardinals RHP Adam Wainwright (8-3, 2.32) opposes Jason Vargas (5-2, 3.39) on Wednesday night. Wainwright is 4-1 against the Royals and 9-5 overall in interleague play. Vargas has at least six strikeouts his last five starts, the longest such stretch of his career. ... Shields is the first Royals pitcher to get an RBI since Luis Mendoza May 29, 2013, at St. Louis. ... The Royals six-run inning tied their season best and tied the best against the Cardinals. ... Matt Holliday walked twice and has reached safely the first 30 home games. ... The Royals have played six games with new batting coach Dale Sveum, and have scored six or more runs in four of them. ... Escobars hit ended Nesheks career-best streak of 20 2-3 scoreless innings. ... Wong, the Cardinals 2B, said he jammed his shoulder a bit diving for Butlers infield hit in the eighth and might miss a game.
