Derbyshires elite performance director Graeme Welch hopes lessons have been learned from a poor 2015 campaign as the squad prepares to kick off a new season. Much has changed at Derby since the end of 2015, when they finished eighth in Division Two of the County Championship and made little or no impact in one-day and Twenty20 cricket.Leading wicket-taker Mark Footitt was tempted away by promoted Surrey, but hopes are high of a better season at the County Ground with a number of exciting new faces on board. New Zealand international Hamish Rutherford should improve the top of their batting order, and compatriot Neil Broom has also joined the squad - he has a UK passport so can play as a home recruit - while the depth of their bowling attack has been boosted by the addition of Andy Carter and Tom Milnes. As well as the on-field changes there is plenty going on behind the scenes - a new media centre is being built and stands have been moved. We learned a lot of experiences last year, Welch told Sky Sports News HQ as preparations continued for their opening match against Gloucestershire on April 17. Hamish Rutherford is back for another stint at the County Ground Weve added Neil Broom and Hamish Rutherford to stabilise the middle order, Andy Carter has come in to replace Mark Footitt and Tom Milnes as well, so we are looking a little bit more experienced. The lessons learned from last year should stand us in good stead. Well be a lot more competitive than last year, were more experienced and well be looking to win every game. Were quietly confident. Dominic Cork and his son Greg re-enact the last over of the World T20 final between England and the West Indies. Welch also expects much more from Derbyshire in Twenty20 cricket in 2016, with the Falcons managing to win just four of their 14 matches last season to finish bottom of the North Group for the second year running.Twenty20 has taken over across the world. The World T20 was a great tournament, and I watched virtually every game. I took a lot of new tactics from it, but its still just down to executing the skills, he added. Its all about dealing with the situation. We have to put the practice in and execute. Adil Rashid, Englands leg spinner, produced figures of 3 for 81 to drag his side back into contention by reducing India to 271 for 6 at stumps on the second day of the third Test being played in Mohali on Sunday.Englands tail survived for just four overs in the morning session as the tourists posted a modest 283 in their first innings. Indias openers, Murali Vijay and Parthiv Patel, hoped to negate any early swing on offer from the new ball, but there was none forthcoming as James Anderson and Chris Woakes failed to find early movement.Englands fielding compounded their woes as Jos Buttler dropped Vijay at midwicket, but the right hander didnt take advantage of the reprieve as he edged Ben Stokes to the keeper in his first over of the Test. At lunch, India were 61 for 1.Patel and Cheteshwar Pujara added 34 for the second wicket but Rashid struck Patel on the kneeroll and Hawkeye pointed to the ball hitting the stumps. India relied on late heroics from R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who added an unbeaten 67-run stand for the seventh wicket to guide their side to within 12 runs of Englands total. We bowled exceptionally well, Rashid said. It was a good effort with the ball and in the field. It was a very important final session. You stick to your plans long enough, you get wickets. The pitch seems good enough. I feel okay but at times you dont feel as good; that is when you have to dig deep. It was nice to have that variation on a good spot against Rahane. We have still got four wickets tom get. Not looking that far ahead [our batting]. ' ' '
